Magnitude 4.5 quake jolts Baguio, nearby provinces


A magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook Baguio City, Benguet, La Union and parts of Pangasinan at 2:33 p.m. on 9 July 2026.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the earthquake's epicenter was located at 16.31 degrees north, 120.55 degrees east, about 9 kilometers south, 7 degrees west of the municipality of Tuba. It had a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.
The tremor was felt at varying intensities across several areas in Northern Luzon.
State seismologists recorded Instrumental Intensity V in Baguio. Instrumental Intensity IV was recorded in Aringay, while Instrumental Intensity III was reported in Sison.
Lower shaking was observed farther south, with Instrumental Intensity II recorded in Urdaneta and Instrumental Intensity I in Cuyapo and Lingayen.
No damage or casualties were immediately reported following the earthquake.
