A police officer was killed on Sunday after a buy-bust operation targeting suspected illegal firearms dealers turned into an armed encounter in Purok Malipayon, Barangay Dao in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
Police Maj. Aiman Khuzaimah P. Pantaran, 35, head of the Pagadian City Police Station’s intelligence unit, was shot during the exchange of gunfire, according to initial reports. He was brought to Mendero Medical Center but was later pronounced dead.
