The Department of Justice (DOJ) conducted a one-stop-shop (OSS) to address common and pressing concerns of refugees and other persons of concern.
The activity was part of the week-long celebration of the National Refugee Day 2026, through the DOJ and the Refugees and Stateless Persons Protection Unit (RSPPU), as Chair of the Inter-Agency Committee (IAC) for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons created pursuant to E.O. No. 163, s. 2022.
During the conduct of the OSS the DOJ issued identity documents, registration, employment facilitation, legal assistance, aid provision, and referral to relevant government agencies.
The OSS aimed to provide refugees with easier access to relevant government services and GCash services that they may avail at the same day in the same venue.
The government services were made available not only for refugees and other POCs but also for other participants present.
Aside from the DOJ-RSPPU, the OSS was participated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as Co-Chair of the IAC, and ten (10) member-agencies of the IAC, to wit: (a) Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA); (b) Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE); (c) Department of Trade and Industry (DTI); (d) Department of Transportation (DOTr); (e) Professional Regulations Commission (PRC); (f) Bureau of Immigration (BI); (g) Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth); (h) Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA); (i) Public Attorney’s Office (PAO); and (j) Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), which rendered their services to more than one hundred (100) POCs including families, women and children.
G-Exchange, Inc. also known as “GCash” likewise participated in the OSS to facilitate creating GCash accounts for refugees.
The OSS was participated as well by partners particularly the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Community and Family Services International (CFSI), which provided support and necessary assistance to the POCs present.
