  • A 36-year-old administrative and payroll officer was arrested for alleged qualified theft following a discovery of P180,000 payroll discrepancy in a company in Barangay Sto. Niño, Marikina City on Monday, 7 September.

The case surfaced after a company representative conducted a routine internal audit, uncovering financial irregularities within the payroll records allegedly linked to the suspect.

Prompted by the findings, management pursued formal legal action and requested police assistance, leading to the swift and peaceful apprehension of the suspect.

Following the arrest, the female suspect was subsequently brought to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for a mandatory medical examination and is presently detained at the Marikina City Police Station custodial facility pending inquest proceedings.

The complaint formally charges the suspect with qualified theft under Article 310 of the Revised Penal Code, which carries heavier penalties for offenses involving grave abuse of confidence and trust.
