Filipino-Taiwanese child actor Jordan Roberto Chien is making waves in Hollywood after portraying Young Prince Zuko in Season 2 of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The young performer appears in episode two, "A Fight Once Begun," where he depicts the future Fire Nation prince during his childhood, delivering an emotional performance as Zuko witnesses the forced separation from his mother, Ursa. The pivotal scene offers viewers a deeper understanding of the character’s tragic past and the origins of one of the franchise’s most compelling redemption stories.
Jordan is the son of International Star Search champion Josephine “Banig” Roberto, who expressed her pride in seeing her son join one of the world’s biggest fantasy franchises. “My excitement is beyond words! This experience for Jordan, our entire family, and me as a mom is something we will cherish forever. Being part of the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise was never in our wildest dreams. This is such a proud moment for me,” she said. She added, “Watching him from the sidelines and allowing him to be in his element is incredibly fulfilling because I know starting out at such a young age isn’t easy. But when you truly love what you do, it becomes your playground.”
Before landing the role of Young Zuko, Jordan had already built an impressive résumé, appearing in campaigns for the Los Angeles Lakers, Disneyland, Mattel and eBay, as well as working with Bryce Dallas Howard on the Disney+ documentary Pets. He has also voiced young characters in several Korean dramas and appeared in Audrey Nuna’s music video Cellulite. With Avatar: The Last Airbender now under his belt, the young actor continues to establish himself as one of the rising Filipino talents making an impact in Hollywood.
