A 43-year-old personal assistant was arrested in Taguig City on Friday night after he allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at a man who had just helped him following a motorcycle crash, police said.
The suspect is facing complaints for alarms and scandal under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code, grave threats, and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The incident occurred at around 8:20 p.m. on 3 July at the corner of Eighth Street and Fourth Street in Barangay Katuparan.
According to the Taguig City Police Station, the suspect lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the road.
A 40-year-old school service driver who witnessed the mishap reportedly rushed to help, assisting the rider in lifting the motorcycle and moving it safely to the roadside.
Police said the situation took a sudden turn after the motorcycle had been secured when the suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the Good Samaritan.
The victim immediately retreated to safety while his brother-in-law intervened to calm the armed man. The family then sought police assistance.
Responding officers from Taguig Police Sub-Station 6 arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect without further incident.
Authorities recovered an Armscor .45-caliber pistol, a magazine loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition, and a black sling bag believed to have been used to carry the firearm.
