A familiar opponent awaits Alex Eala in her first-ever second-round appearance at the Wimbledon Championships as she takes on Australia's Maya Joint.
The two last met in the 2025 Eastbourne Open final, where Joint rallied from a set down to defeat Eala, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (12-10), and claim the title.
Their Wimbledon rematch is scheduled for Thursday.
World No. 87 Joint advanced after defeating returning seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-3, in the opening round.
Eala, meanwhile, booked her place in the second round with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Mexico's Renata Zarazúa, becoming the first Filipina in the Open Era to win a Wimbledon singles main-draw match.
