Prestone is urging motorists to give their vehicles a closer look as the rainy season begins, saying weather changes can affect more than road visibility and tire grip.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has declared the start of the habagat season, which usually brings wetter days across the country.

Prestone said this period can also bring shifting driving conditions, from hot mornings to heavy afternoon rains, which may put added strain on vehicles.

Drivers often prepare for wet roads by checking tires, wipers and lights. Prestone said the engine and braking system also need attention, especially during months when heat, humidity and rain can change quickly.

The company said many engine problems are still linked to temperature control, even outside of summer. Heavy traffic, humid air and sudden weather shifts can make it harder for an engine to stay within its normal operating range.
