Ormoc City's culinary heritage has been preserved in print with the launch of Homemade: A Taste of Ormoc, a coffee table cookbook featuring recipes and stories that celebrate the city's rich food culture.
More than a recipe collection, the book documents 77 dishes passed down through generations of Ormocanon families, pairing each with personal stories that highlight the traditions and memories behind the meals.
The publication, completed after three years of research and collaboration, was launched during a gathering at the Ormoc City Sports Complex. Award-winning journalist Bum Tenorio Jr. led the editorial team, working alongside local writers and contributors to preserve the city's culinary legacy.
Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez described the book as an invitation to discover Ormoc beyond its signature dishes.
"I hope that every taste of Ormoc inspires a deeper appreciation for the stories, emotions, and values that continue to shape our city," she said.
The launch was attended by Congressman Richard Gomez, Juliana Gomez, Vice Mayor Leo Carmelo Locsin Jr., members of the 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod, city officials, researchers, contributors and guests.
Torres-Gomez also announced plans for a second volume to document more recipes and stories that continue to define Ormoc's culinary identity.
