Police arrested a motorist and confiscated a loaded handgun during a routine checkpoint operation along Diego Cera Avenue, Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno, Las Piñas City early Sunday morning.
The suspect—identified only as alias Mark, 29, a resident of San Dionisio, Parañaque City—was flagged down while riding a gray Honda PCX motorcycle during the implementation of “Oplan Sita.”
During the inspection, police officers noticed a suspicious metallic bulge on the suspect’s waistband. A subsequent inspection led to the recovery of one Walther .22 caliber pistol loaded with 10 rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect failed to present any valid firearm license, registration, or permit to carry the firearm outside of residence, prompting his immediate arrest.
Charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, have been filed and are undergoing inquest proceedings before the appropriate prosecutor’s office.
