Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Friday lauded Sta. Ana Hospital for its inclusion in Newsweek’s “World’s Best Hospitals 2026 – Philippines” list.

The facility ranked 25th out of 35 Philippine hospitals recognized in the report, which was produced in partnership with data firm Statista. The ranking evaluated more than 2,500 hospitals across 32 countries based on expert recommendations, quality metrics, and patient experience.

Domagoso attributed the recognition to a comprehensive modernization program that upgraded the district hospital’s facilities and clinical capabilities.

Under the leadership of Manila City Health Cluster OIC Dr. Grace Padilla and hospital director Dr. Janet Tan, the facility underwent significant expansion.

Key upgrades included the establishment of the Manila Molecular Testing Laboratory, making it the only local government-run district hospital in the country to house two types of molecular labs. The facility currently operates two RT-PCR machines capable of processing 1,000 tests per day.

The hospital also expanded its specialized services with the opening of a dialysis center featuring 11 seats and high-end hemodialysis machines, as well as a Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine and Robotics Center. The latter utilizes Hybrid Assistive Limb technology to assist patients with neurological and musculoskeletal recovery.

During the citywide immunization rollout, Sta. Ana Hospital served as a primary vaccine storage hub. It is equipped with ultra-low temperature freezers capable of maintaining temperatures at -86°C for specialized vaccines, alongside biomedical freezers and refrigeration units.
