The Philippine Bank of Communications has appointed Cecilia C. Borromeo as an independent director, replacing Gilda E. Pico, who completed her nine-year term on 22 February.
The bank said the move forms part of efforts to strengthen its leadership as it positions itself for broader growth.
Borromeo is a development banker with more than 30 years of experience in development and agricultural finance. She served as president of the Land Bank of the Philippines from 2019 to 2023 and previously held senior leadership roles at the Development Bank of the Philippines.
Her contributions to the banking sector earned her the ADFIAP CEO of the Year award.
Before joining Landbank in 1989, Borromeo spent nine years in government service, holding positions at the Ministry of Human Settlements, the Human Settlements Development Corporation, the KKK National Secretariat and the Department of Trade and Industry.
The bank said Borromeo’s appointment supports its strategy to reinforce governance and guide its next phase of expansion.
