100 surfers join 18th Aurora Surfing Challenge

More than 100 surfers took part in the 18th Aurora Surfing Challenge held at the Sabang Beach in Baler, Aurora that formally opened on Friday, 13 February 2026.

The competition is part of the province's celebration of Aurora Day as various competitors vie for the Men’s Longboard, Women’s Shortboard and Longboard, Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Men’s Open Shortboard, as well as the Masters Category for those aged 40 and above.

The said competition is one of the main activities in the 47th Anniversary of the Aurora Foundation Day, along with the commemoration of the 138th birth anniversary of Doña Aurora Aragon Quezon.

Organized by the Aurora Surf Riders Association Inc. led by Contest Director G. Rommel Rojo, the semifinals ended in a close fight wherein participants in the recent national surfing competition competed.

Surfers who made it to the semi-finals include:

Men’s Open Shortboard:

Neil Sanchez, John Paul Imperial, Marco Ventura, Allen Magos

Junior Girls:

Yana Espinosa, Kelsha Vargas, Glaise Villar, Ladyly Vargas

Junior Boys (Finals):

Ghiero Hugo, Jeravin Naveros, Kaluah Tena, Elijah Cornejo

Women’s Longboard:

Marie Cabel, Cathleya Casals, Daisy Dela Torre, Ashlee Lopez

Men’s Open Longboard:

Joshua Bihasa, Mark Aguila, Joren Querijero, Edgar Calvo Jr.

Women’s Shortboard:

Vicky Moñeno, Janel Proceso, Cathleya Casals, Daisy Dela Torre

The finals are held today, hailing the champions in their respective categories at the 18th Aurora Surfing Challenge.

The Provincial Government continues to show support to the sports tourism of the province and boosting the culture of surfing here, an identity that continues to give honor and recognition to Aurora as one of the primary destinations in the country. .
