The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) unveiled its 2026 Chinese New Year commemorative stamp, celebrating the “Year of the Horse,” in a ceremony at Robinsons Place Manila on Friday.

The event gathered postal officials, mall executives, and members of the local philatelic community.

Robinsons Regional Operations Manager Cristina Manalo welcomed guests, highlighting the event’s celebration of heritage and artistry.

“May these commemorative stamps serve as a reminder of the rich traditions we honor and the future we look forward to with optimism and purpose,” she said.

Acting Postmaster General for Operations Gilbert Javier linked the symbolism of the horse to PHLPost’s goals for the year: “The fire horse does not stand still, it moves with purpose, acts with conviction, and charges towards progress with fearless energy. "As we work to keep stamps and postal services relevant in a rapidly changing world, we are choosing motion over comfort, renewable over redeem.”

The program included the unveiling of the stamp, signing of the official first-day cover, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a viewing of the exhibit. Philippine Philatelic Federation Inc. President Rey Ong reflected on the deeper value of stamps, saying, “The point is how does the stamp guide you in your life, the story behind the stamp is even more intricate.”

Despite global declines in traditional mail, commemorative stamps remain a resilient segment, supported by collectors and cultural advocates. By aligning releases with celebrations like Chinese New Year, PHLPost seeks to maintain public interest and strengthen private sector partnerships.

The 2026 “Year of the Horse” stamp continues the corporation’s approach of blending artistry, cultural storytelling, and institutional renewal to keep postal services relevant in a changing environment.
