The dominant Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) in the House of Representatives formally adopted its party agenda for the 20th Congress, confident that the measures will enjoy broad, cross-party cooperation.

The party seeks to secure at least 150 principal authors per bill as it strategizes in partnering with other political parties in the House to ensure swift deliberation and passage of priority measures.

Members of the Lakas-CMD unanimously approved the agenda following an appeal by Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, who called on party mates to act with unity and discipline in pushing the administration’s legislative priorities.

Romualdez rallied Lakas lawmakers to advance President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s priority bills under the leadership of Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III, stressing that the chamber is firmly aligned in acting on measures endorsed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council.

Common unity, discipline

“The House is under the leadership of Speaker Dy, who is steering the chamber in acting on the President’s priority measures,” Romualdez, Lakas-CMD president, said.

“Unity, discipline, and cooperation across party lines are essential if we are to translate the administration’s agenda into concrete laws.”

Romualdez said Lakas-CMD is committed to working closely with all House party leaders to ensure that priority bills move efficiently through the legislative process.

“As legislators, our foremost responsibility is to pass laws that directly improve the lives of our people,” he said. “Lakas-CMD is fully committed to supporting the President’s legislative priorities and to working constructively with Speaker Dy and party leaders in the House.”

He also underscored the importance of coordination within House leadership, citing the role of House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos in managing the legislative calendar and consolidating majority support for priority measures.
