Davao City — Classes at all levels in both public and private educational institutions in the city have been suspended from Thursday, 5 February, until Friday, 6 February 2026, following the issuance of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 due to Tropical Storm Basyang.

The suspension was ordered by the city government to ensure the safety of students, according to a statement from the City Information Office (CIO).

The CIO said all classes scheduled on the affected dates will shift to asynchronous learning.

Some schools had already begun holding classes before the suspension was announced. These schools were advised to continue with half-day sessions only, after which students were allowed to go home.

The CIO also urged students to stay indoors, remain alert, and take necessary safety precautions as the weather disturbance persists.

Students were likewise advised to monitor official school announcements and verified government advisories, including those issued by PAGASA, for further updates.
