AboitizPower’s environmental initiative, the Bataan Mangrove Adoption and Protection Program, won a Silver Anvil at the 61st Anvil Awards during the Gabi ng Parangal held at Solaire North in Quezon City on 28 January.
The program, implemented by AboitizPower’s private limited partnerships GNPower Mariveles Energy Center and GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co., forms part of the Provincial Government of Bataan’s Project Transform Baka1Bataan.
Organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, the Anvil Awards are regarded as the gold standard of excellence in public relations in the Philippines.
AboitizPower received the Silver Anvil under the Sustainability Communication category, which recognizes campaigns and communication programs that effectively promote sustainability, particularly initiatives aligned with environmental, social, and governance principles or the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The Bataan Mangrove Adoption and Protection Program follows a collaborative conservation model in which private companies, local government units, and community organizations adopt specific coastal areas to rehabilitate, protect, and manage mangrove forests.
Company officials said the recognition underscores the commitment of GMEC and GNPD to environmental stewardship, anchored on sustained mangrove rehabilitation and protection efforts and strengthened through close collaboration with host communities in Bataan.
