Mayon Volcano continued to show signs of unrest over the past 24 hours.

State volcanologists recorded five volcanic earthquakes, lava flows and up to 400 rockfall events from 12 a.m. Friday to 12 a.m. Saturday, according to monitoring by the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology.

The activity included 377 rockfall events and 47 pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), locally known as “uson.”

Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano, indicating intensified magmatic unrest.

Volcanic plumes rose up to 100 meters above the crater and drifted northwestward and west-southwestward. Sulfur dioxide emissions were measured at 2,304 tons on Friday, 30 January.
