Days after expressing uncertainty about his future with San Sebastian College–Recoletos, Jhuniel Dela Rama has finalized his decision and will take his talents to Mendiola.

The incoming sophomore is set to suit up for San Beda Red Lions, the most successful program in NCAA history, which secured its 24th championship in Season 101 last December.

Dela Rama confirmed the move to DAILY TRIBUNE on Saturday afternoon, saying the decision was made with the guidance of his family.

“The main reason why I transferred to San Beda is I want to improve myself more, and I want to have a better future with them as well,” Dela Rama told DAILY TRIBUNE.

The NCAA Season 101 Defensive Player of the Year averaged 13.62 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.7 steals, earning spots on both the Mythical Team and the All-Defensive Team.

“Just like how they took care of Kuya Robert Bolick, he discovered more about himself during his stay at San Beda,” the 6-foot-2 forward added.

Bolick, a current member of Gilas Pilipinas and the NLEX Road Warriors, also transferred to the Mendiola-based squad after beginning his collegiate career with the La Salle Green Archers.

Miller departs

Before Dela Rama confirmed his arrival in Mendiola, Janti Miller announced his departure from San Beda—and from the NCAA altogether.

“Unfortunately, with a recent understanding of the timing of San Beda joining the UAAP, I have decided to transfer,” the 6-foot-4 guard said in a lengthy Instagram post shared Saturday morning.

The Filipino-American expressed gratitude to the red-and-white community, saying the school welcomed him and helped deepen his understanding of Filipino culture.

The Season 101 Mythical Team awardee reiterated his decision not to continue playing in the country’s oldest collegiate league, citing multiple concerns, including his suspension in Game 2 of San Beda’s championship series against Letran Knights.
