The Provincial Government is set to roll out six new rolling trucks to augment the sale of P20-per-kilo rice across the province of Nueva Ecija. The new rolling trucks were presented during the flag-raising ceremony at the Provincial Capitol in Palayan City on 12 January 2026.

Provincial officials said the additional trucks aim to strengthen government services and bring affordable rice closer to communities throughout Nueva Ecija, particularly those in far-flung areas.

Father Arnold Abelardo led the blessing ceremony for the six newly acquired rolling trucks.

The P20-per-kilo rice program being implemented in Nueva Ecija forms part of the Department of Agriculture’s “Rice-for-All Program,” which offers subsidized rice to vulnerable sectors, including farmers and low-income earners. The program’s rollout reached all provinces by late 2025 and is intended to be sustained nationwide.

Under the Rice-for-All Program, P20-per-kilo rice is made available to beneficiaries such as senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, and farmers. The program expanded nationwide by late 2025, covering Nueva Ecija and other provinces.

The government is also working to sustain the subsidized pricing scheme through measures such as setting floor prices for palay, or unhusked rice, to support farmers while ensuring affordable rice for consumers.

While commercial rice prices continue to vary, P20-per-kilo rice remains accessible in Nueva Ecija through government-supported initiatives, particularly for individuals who fall under the program’s target beneficiaries.
