Johanna Blair Uyking and Apollo Batican topped the three-day World Golf Amateur Ranking tournament, held alongside the JGFP Mindanao Open at Apo Golf and Country Club in Davao City on Tuesday.
Uyking, playing on her home course, finished strong with a two-under-par 70, edging twins Mona and Lisa Sarines by two strokes. She closed 54 holes at 2-over 218, while Mona and Lisa both ended on 220 after rounds of 71 and 72, respectively. Interestingly, all three were semifinalists in last year’s Philippine Amateur Championship at Apo. Brittany Tamayo rounded out the top four at 221 after a final-round 76.
In the boys’ division, Batican stamped his authority, cruising to a three-shot victory over Philippine Amateur finalist Vito Sarines. The Cagayan de Oro standout carded rounds of 73-70-71 to finish at 2-under 214. Sarines stayed consistent with 72-72-73 for second place, while home favorites Aldrien Gialon and Nino Villasencio tied for third at 220 after closing rounds of 74 and 75.
The three-day event drew nine girls and 17 boys, with the first two rounds played on Monday, setting the stage for a competitive final day.
