Rianne Malixi has recovered from back problems that torpedoed her campaign in the Women’s Asia Pacific Championship and is slowly getting back into shape in time for the inaugural Rianne Malixi Challenge Cup, a two-day affair at the Royal Northwoods Golf and Country Club this weekend.

To accommodate more participants, organizers decided to hold a separate tournament for junior golfers on Saturday, eve of the main event.

The tournament will raise funds to benefit the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines’ training programs and the Norberto S. Amoranto Lodge No. 358’s charitable initiatives.

The event has garnered strong support from major corporations and individuals, with Skyflakes stepping in as the event’s presenting sponsor.

Skyflakes, a popular brand of crisp, light, and flaky crackers which has become a household staple in the country, has been Malixi’s sponsor in her budding career.

Also coming in as major sponsors are East West Bank, San Miguel Corp., Uratex Foam Philippines, Toyota San Jose Del Monte, Quantum Golf, The Turf Company, lawyer Polo Pantaleon and Rep. Steve Solon, among others.

Rianne hopes to inspire others to give back and support causes that promote education, health, and well-being.

“This event is my way of celebrating not just my birthday but everything that has helped me get to where I am today,” Malixi said.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received throughout my career, and I want to use this platform to pay it forward by supporting the next generation of golfers and causes that matter.”
