For Aboitiz Foundation, the Christmas season is a time of compassion for and unity with communities recovering from hardship. On 18 December, the Foundation, through OneAboitiz, brought renewed hope to 285 families in the Municipality of Liloan, Cebu that were affected by typhoon “Tino” by providing them with home recovery assistance to repair their houses totally damaged by the disaster.

Each family received P30,000 in assistance to help them begin rebuilding their homes, bringing the total support for Liloan to P8.5 million.

“The flash floods brought by typhoon ‘Tino’ caused fear, loss and uncertainty for many families. Dili lalim ang inyong naagian. Through this support, we want every family to know that you are not alone,” Anton Perdices, chief operating officer of AboitizPower Distribution Utilities, said during the turnover of the assistance.

The Home Recovery Assistance Program provides practical support to help families rebuild safer homes. The assistance includes cement and construction materials vouchers, as well as cash support for labor.

Perdices emphasized that the initiative goes beyond rebuilding houses.

“Seeing families smile again — especially during the Christmas season — reminds us that this work is also about restoring hope, dignity and confidence as communities move forward together,” he said.

The initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the Aboitiz Foundation, UnionBank, Republic Cement, Vic Enterprises, local government units and volunteers, reflecting the spirit of bayanihan — where businesses, government, and communities come together in times of need.

The effort in Liloan follows the turnover of home recovery assistance last November to 225 families in San Remigio, Cebu, whose homes were damaged by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck the province in September.
The Liloan assistance forms part of the broader OneAboitiz disaster response, which has provided more than 63,000 families nationwide with over P28.8 million in total relief and recovery support. Led by the Aboitiz Foundation, these efforts cover earthquake recovery in Cebu and Davao, typhoon response in the Visayas, and flood and storm relief in Northern Luzon — demonstrating OneAboitiz’s commitment to supporting communities from immediate relief to long-term recovery.

The Aboitiz Foundation shared its hope that this assistance will bring renewed strength and optimism to families as they rebuild their homes and look forward to a safer and more hopeful future.
