Tzu Chi, Lao foundations renew partnership on training elderly caregiver
Tzu Chi and Lao Foundation (LF)have renewed their partnership of training people as elderly caregiver to help them earn a living.
The Buddhist humanitarian organization, which operates a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-accredited training facility for caregiving, signed a memorandum of agreement with LF, which provides scholarship, last 14 October 2026, at the Buddhist Tzu Chi Campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
LF scholars who earned their TESDA NC II as elderly caregivers graced the signing event to share their training and employment experience. Among them was Jusmine May Marimar Posadas, who said her job allowed her to support her family, including a grandmother living with dementia and an uncle battling cancer.
Eighteen-year-old Ashantte Daligdig, a scholar from Caregiving Batch 1 in 2026, said she can now continue pursuing her dream of going to college, which was interrupted because her family and her father with stage 5 chronic kidney disease needed her help.
“This partnership is very valuable to us because, in terms of vision, we’re aligned on how we want not just to help, but to provide compassionate help,” Maria Christina Viray, LF head of operations, said.
Tzu Chi volunteer Johnny Cheng thanked LF for its longstanding trust and partnership .
“Your continuous trust is truly one of the most precious things we could ever receive. May our partnership continue to transform lives,” he said.
