The world is once again paying attention to soon-to-be active Derek Ramsay, following cryptic posts by his estranged first wife, Ellen Adarna. The former actress has posted enough implied warnings to girls and women that they may end up sorry and miserable if they commit the “mistake” of loving him. (In Adarna’s case, it was love at first sight. It seems the same was true for Ramsay.)

Actually, Adarna seems to be still in love with Ramsay, though she’s projecting the feeling of contempt bordering on hatred. She who is looking even more ravishing now, based on her photos in her series of posts denouncing Ramsay.

Her latest posting is with her children Elias and Liana plus Austin, Derek’s grown up son from a previous relationship who likes Adarna a lot and who used to stay at Ramsay’s house where he and Adarna lived together.

Adarna’s implicit message to Derek in that photo is: “Look at what you’re missing for being unfaithful. Everyone is faithful to me, except you!”

But, then, Adarna should stop hounding her estranged husband if she still wants a romance with any man who may or may not behave like the unfaithful Ramsay. All her denunciations of Ramsay may also hurt her own reputation.

Meanwhile, Ramsay is expected to be fully active again as an actor on TV5 and on MQuest Productions. The Manny V. Pangilinan companies signed him up in October this year.

John Lapus joins Vice Ganda’s MMFF film

Did you know that comedian-actor-director John Lapus is in Vice Ganda’s 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry Call Me Mother?

Yes, Lapus is. What has been consistently highlighted in the film’s publicity is Nadine Lustre’s being in the cast practically as the storyline’s villain.

Lustre portrays the biological mother of a boy whom Vice Ganda’s transwoman character want to legally adopt since she has been taking care of the boy since his infancy. Lustre’s character wants to take back her child who has grown up to be a handsome boy (portrayed by Lucas Andalio).

So what’s Lapus’ role?

Vice Ganda’s foster mother! The desire to be a mother must be very strong in the gay characters Vice Ganda and Lapus portray. How noble!

Lapus really has no complains about the role. On the contrary, he’s quite happy to be in an MMFF entry after 10 years.

His last appearance in an MMFF entry was in Buy Now, Die Later, bannered by Vhong Navarro and Alex Gonzaga in 2015. The film was an anthology of five stories and Lapus was the lead actress in the episode Smell. Her character was named Pippa, a fun-loving gay who’s looking for love and affection. It was Lapus 12th participation in the MMFF over the years.

Vice Ganda and John Lapus have appeared in three movies and a number of television shows, though they were not always part of the main, regular cast of the shows together.

They were in the following movies:

Apat Dapat, Dapat Apat: Friends 4 Lyf and Death (2007); Petrang Kabayo (2010), in which Lapus and Eugene Domingo agreed to do supporting roles in Vice Ganda’s headlining film to show support and disprove any rivalry.

In Call Me Mother (2025), both Lapus and Domingo are in the ensemble cast.

Lapus was also originally meant to star in the movie Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, a concept given to him by the late screenwriter-director Wen Deramas, but the main role eventually went to Vice Ganda.

As for TV shows, Lapus appeared as a guest on Vice Ganda’s Sunday night talk show. A former production assistant and scriptwriter, Lapus has appeared several times on ABS-CBN's

It's Showtime where Vice Ganda is a long-standing regular host/judge.
