SexBomb Sunshine Garcia-Castro is reclaiming her body, her confidence, and most importantly, her joy.
In a disarmingly honest Facebook post titled “IN MY CHUBBY ERA,” the former SexBomb dancer opened up about the unsolicited comments she has received regarding her weight, especially now that the group’s much-anticipated reunion concerts are in full swing.
Sunshine, who welcomed her baby less than a year ago via C-section, shared that while some people have been supportive, others have not held back from body-shaming her.
“May iba na naiintindihan meron naman na kung makapag sabi nang ‘ANG TABA MO’ ‘ANG BIGAT NI SHINE’ etc.,” she wrote.
But instead of letting negativity dim her shine, she responded with trademark humor and grounded self-awareness.
Sunshine revealed that her husband, actor-politician VG Alex Castro, gently asked her whether the hurtful comments affected her.
“Kagabi nag ask ang asawa ko VG Alex Castro kung naapektuhan ba daw ako natawa ako at sumagot na ‘HINDI’,” she said, adding that Alex also laughed when she responded.
Why was she not affected? Sunshine explained it simply and powerfully:
First, she takes a look at who is talking.
“Una pag tiningnan ko account nung nag sabi…ahhhh NO COMMENT.”
A quick glance at the profiles of those criticizing her is enough to keep her unbothered.
Second, she knows her body’s truth.
“Alam ko sa sarili ko na wala pang isang taon ako nanganganak via CS, ayaw ko madaliin yung katawan ko at alam ko sa sarili ko na papayat din ako.”
In an industry obsessed with instant transformation, Sunshine’s message stands out: healing, recovery, and self-acceptance take time, and she refuses to rush any of it.
In one of the most heartwarming parts of her post, Sunshine shared that this stage, her so-called “chubby era,” is new to her. And surprisingly, she is enjoying it.
“AT GUYS NGAYON LANG AKO NASASABIHAN NA CUTE HAYAAN NYONG CHERISH KO MUNA ITO HAHAHA dahil pagnagpapayat ulit ako pahirapan ng katawan.”
It is a statement that captures both her lighthearted humor and her newfound appreciation for her postpartum body, a body that has gone through childbirth, recovery, and now the demanding choreography of SexBomb’s reunion shows.
As the SexBomb Girls continue to sell out major concert venues, Sunshine stands as a reminder that performers, no matter how iconic, are real women with real journeys. Her honesty about postpartum changes offers inspiration to mothers who feel pressured to “bounce back” immediately.
She is not just dancing again; she is living fully, laughing loudly, and embracing every curve and chapter of who she is today.
With her confidence, candor, and joy, Sunshine Garcia-Castro proves that every era, chubby or otherwise, is worth celebrating.
