Chery Auto Philippines has taken the lead in the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle segment among members of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. and the Truck Manufacturers Association for October 2025. The push comes from one model. The Tiggo rEV.
Industry reports from CAMPI and TMA show that Chery sold 81 units of the Tiggo rEV in October. The model stayed ahead of 19 other plug-in hybrid models from seven brands.
The next best seller reached 51 units. That gave the Tiggo rEV more than one-fourth of the plug-in hybrid market for that month.
The performance of the Tiggo rEV helped boost Chery’s standing in the wider electrified vehicle market. From January to October, total electrified vehicle sales among CAMPI and TMA brands reached 24,265 units.
Hybrid electric vehicles accounted for most of that with 19,379 units. Battery electric vehicles followed with 3,941 units. Plug-in hybrids posted 945 units. Chery now sits among the top players in this space.
Toyota leads in hybrid sales, and Tesla leads in full battery electric vehicles.
October figures also show how fast the market is shifting. Electrified vehicle sales rose to 3,603 units that month from 2,223 in September.
Plug-in hybrids grew the fastest. Sales climbed to 275 units from 94 in September. Hybrids also grew sharply. Battery electric vehicles slipped to 284 units from 379.
Chery’s local distributor, United Asia Automotive Group Inc., links the Tiggo rEV’s numbers to a mix of product and presence. The company points to the Tiggo rEV’s plug-in hybrid system and long range. It also points to a dealer network of 25 outlets around the country, which helps with visibility and after-sales support.
A new variant has also helped keep attention on the nameplate. The Tiggo rEV Luxury Edition serves as the latest version of Chery’s seven-seat mid-size plug-in hybrid SUV.
It carries the Chery Super Hybrid system that works with both Type 2 and CCS2 charging ports. Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque.
This engine works with a dedicated hybrid transmission. Chery claims a combined electric and hybrid range of up to 1,400 kilometers on a full charge and tank.
The Tiggo rEV LE also comes with a long list of comfort features. The cabin has a 15.6-inch floating infotainment display and a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. The vehicle supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It also offers a heads-up display, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, smart proximity key access, remote engine start, and retractable flush door handles.
The Tiggo rEV LE has adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring. A 540-degree camera with dynamic guidelines helps drivers navigate tight spaces.
The Tiggo rEV LE has a price tag of P1,528,000 and is available nationwide through Chery dealerships.
