SM City Tarlac’s entry to the renowned Belenismo in Tarlac aims to inspire faith and resilience during these times of crisis with a Nativity installation dubbed the “Dome of Hope.”

According to an SM City Tarlac official, the company’s Nativity scene features a grand bamboo dome shaped to evoke a mother’s gentle embrace that nurtures, protects, and illuminates anyone within her arms.

“The Dome of Hope is illuminated at the mall’s facade, with the dome glowing warmly, representing the birth of Jesus and the enduring hope that shines through even in challenging times,” she said.

The display also reflects the company’s thrust toward sustainability, with bamboo and fabric made from recycled materials used in creating the Belen — combining craftsmanship with care for the environment. Bamboo slats coated in varnish and a wooden rattan base complete the structure, creating a natural texture that harmonizes with its ambient lighting.

At the center rests the traditional Nativity scene of Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus, accompanied by the Angel and the Three Kings. Each figure is clothed in fine fabrics of silk, satin, and taffeta, adorned with delicate sequins that shimmer softly under the lights, lending a sacred and radiant atmosphere.

Within the 32-foot-wide display, visitors may also find the “Prayer Before the Belen” written in English and Tagalog — inviting guests to pause, reflect, and find peace.

Made with indigenous and repurposed materials, “Dome of Hope” stands as SM City Tarlac’s tribute to faith, unity, and the warmth of the Christmas season.
