PNP vows ‘lawful, orderly’ enforcement of arrest warrant vs. Zaldy Co, 17 others

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday affirmed it is prepared to enforce the arrest warrants issued against former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co and 17 others in connection with alleged irregularities in flood control projects.

Acting PNP Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the police organization is now in close coordination with the Sandiganbayan and other relevant agencies to ensure that the implementation of the warrants proceeds “lawfully and orderly.”

“We assure the public that due process will be strictly observed, and the individuals involved will be accorded all rights guaranteed under the law,” Nartatez said.

He emphasized that the enforcement of the warrants reflects the continued efforts of state institutions to strengthen transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service.

“The PNP remains committed to supporting these processes professionally, fairly, and without prejudice,” he added.

The police leadership also urged the public to maintain confidence in the country’s justice system as authorities pursue the case.

“We call on the public to continue placing trust in our institutions as we carry out our duties with integrity, respect for the rule of law, and commitment to justice,” Nartatez said.

The arrest orders stem from ongoing investigations into alleged anomalies in flood control projects, a controversy that has recently widened following multiple inquiries and evidence submissions to oversight and investigative bodies.

DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon and ICI Commissioner Rogelio Singson personally turned over the evidence to the Office of the Ombudsman.

The submitted documents pertain to more than P100 billion in flood control contracts awarded between 2016 and 2025 to firms linked to Co, including Sunwest, Inc., and Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corp.
