The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is closely monitoring traffic across Metro Manila in connection with the three-day transparency rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo at Quirino Grandstand in Manila, which began Sunday, 16 November and will run until Tuesday, 18 November.
In a directive from MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes, the agency activated its Emergency Operations Center starting 6 a.m. on 16 November to oversee traffic flow in the affected areas.
Aside from Quirino Grandstand, monitoring efforts are also focused on EDSA, particularly the People Power Monument in Quezon City.
A total of 1,815 MMDA personnel have been deployed to manage traffic and support the peaceful rally. The agency said ambulances, rapid-response vehicles and tow trucks are also on standby should assistance be required.
The MMDA is coordinating operations with representatives from the Department of Transportation – Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT), Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police and the National Capital Region Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
