Lacson kay Zaldy Co: Kahit via Zoom magpakita ka

Iimbitahan ng Senado si dating Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co na dumalo sa susunod na pagdinig ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hinggil sa umano’y iregularidad sa mga proyekto sa flood control sa pamamagitan ng Zoom, ayon kay Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson nitong Martes.

Sinabi ni Lacson, na inaasahang muling uupo bilang chairman ng Blue Ribbon Committee, na kung hindi makadadalo nang personal si Co sa pagdinig sa Biyernes, 14 Nobyembre, maaari pa rin niyang patotohanan ang kanyang sinumpaang salaysay sa ibang araw sa harap ng isang konsul sa Embahada ng Pilipinas.

“We’re extending our invitation to Zaldy Co if he can participate via Zoom,” ani Lacson sa isang ambush interview.

“Of course, if he’s abroad, as we all know, most probably… his testimony will not be valid unless he is in the premises of the Philippine Embassy in the country where he is,” dagdag pa niya.

Kung hindi makadalo si Co sa embahada sa mismong araw ng pagdinig, sinabi ni Lacson na maaari pa rin siyang magbigay ng pahayag online at saka na lamang patotohanan ang kanyang affidavit sa harap ng isang konsul.

“If not, he can testify first, and then after that, he can have his affidavit or his testimony affirmed by a consul where he is,” sabi pa ng senador.

Binigyang-diin din ni Lacson na wala siyang direktang komunikasyon kay Co at na ang imbitasyon ay ipadadala nang pormal sa dating kongresista.

Ibinunyag din ni Lacson na 17 pang kongresista, kabilang sina Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez at Representative Eric Yap, ang iimbitahan sa nasabing pagdinig na nakatakdang ganapin sa Biyernes, 14 Nobyembre.

“After the elections this afternoon, we’ll buckle down to work and send the invitations through the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives -- Speaker Martin Romualdez himself, plus the 17 congressmen mentioned by the Discaya couple,” ani Lacson.

Noong Setyembre, itinuro ng mga kontraktor na sina Sarah at Curlee Discaya ang ilang kongresista, kanilang mga staff at ilang opisyal ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) na umano’y sangkot sa katiwalian kaugnay ng mga proyekto sa flood control sa bansa.

Sinabi ni Lacson na ipagpapatuloy na ang imbestigasyon sa flood control na nasuspinde nang mahigit isang buwan, sa 14 Nobyembre.

“I already talked to the Senate President to request Senator Sherwin Gatchalian to vacate Friday, November 14, to give way to the resumption of the blue ribbon committee hearing,” pahayag ni Lacson.

“All systems go unless Senator Sherwin has pressing matters.”
