Four former bodyguards of ex-congressman Zaldy Co were arrested Friday over a cyberlibel case but they were released after posting bail on the same day, police said.

Police arrested the four at about 11:30 a.m. on 9 September while they attended a separate hearing at the San Juan Hall of Justice, where San Juan City police served the warrants issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93.

Police said the four posted bail of P10,000 each Friday afternoon.

The Department of Justice in July recommended the filing of six counts of cyberlibel and four counts of perjury against 18 former bodyguards of Co who had claimed to be ex-Marines who delivered suitcases of cash to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and then House speaker Martin Romualdez.

The four who were arrested had recanted their statements against Marcos and Romualdez.
