The Department of Health (DOH) deployed on Saturday, 8 November, 1,300 teams of Health Emergency Response Teams (HERTs) in regions affected by Typhoon Tino.

The DOH deployed HERTs in heavily-affected regions such as Visayas, Negros Island, Mimaropa, and Caraga.

HERTs are composed of a Quad Cluster Team of experts who will respond to the health of those affected by the typhoon.

These include: the Medical and Public Health Team, who will conduct first-aid and check-ups, monitor illnesses in health facilities and evacuation centers, and ensure that patients have enough medicine and can be referred to the hospital if needed.

Meanwhile, the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Team ensures clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and proper handwashing to prevent the spread of disease.

The Nutrition Team conducts nutrition assessments and distributes supplemental feeding for the health of children and pregnant women.

Lastly, the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Team is tasked to provide counseling and psychosocial first aid to help residents recover from the trauma caused by the calamity.

Aside from the health commodities that have already been positioned and distributed, the DOH also prepositioned P135.22 million worth of supplies and equipment to address additional needs related to the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino and the possible effects of Typhoon Uwan.
