The 25th anniversary of the Miss Earth pageant, themed “The Silver Lining,” culminated in a dazzling coronation night at The Cove, Okada Manila, where Natalie Puskinova of the Czech Republic was crowned Miss Earth 2025. Amid cheers and confetti, Puskinova bested nearly 80 candidates from around the globe, continuing the pageant’s legacy as one of the Philippines’ most celebrated international competitions. The event was streamed live worldwide via Facebook and YouTube, drawing thousands of fans in celebration of environmental beauty and purpose.
A Night of Global Unity
In her final answer, Puskinova captivated the audience not only with her eloquence but also with her heartfelt use of the Filipino language. When asked whether she agreed with Bill Gates’ proposal to divert resources from climate change to the fight against disease and hunger, she responded with conviction and compassion:
“I’m not here today to pick a finger and choose what is worst, whether it is environmental causes or social problems. Even though I live on the other side of the world, we face the same issues together. If we unite, we can prevent both hunger and environmental causes. And one message I want to say — protektahan natin ang kalikasan.”
Her thoughtful delivery earned a standing ovation, solidifying her place as the new ambassador for environmental protection and global unity.
A Story of Strength and Purpose
Earlier in the Top 8 segment, Puskinova reflected on the word “parenthood”, sharing a deeply personal story about losing her father at sixteen:
“It changed my life completely. But I continue to find the strength to fight for what is right, for my dreams, for our environment. I know my dad is watching me from above.”
Her sincerity and strength resonated with the judges and audience, underscoring the pageant’s enduring theme of resilience and hope.
The Elemental Queens
Joining Puskinova in the elemental court are:
• Miss Earth Air 2025 – Sóldís Ívarsdóttir (Iceland)
• Miss Earth Water 2025 – Mu Anh Trinh (Vietnam)
• Miss Earth Fire 2025 – Waree Ngamkham (Thailand)
Each of these women impressed the judges with their advocacy work, intelligence, and poise, forming a powerhouse quartet that embodies Miss Earth’s environmental mission.
Philippines’ Joy Barcoma Shines as Runner-Up
Representing the host country, Joy Barcoma of the Philippines delivered a memorable and heartfelt performance throughout the competition. The 26-year-old host and government consultant from Bacoor was among the crowd favorites for her intelligence, advocacy, and humor. During the Q&A, she spoke passionately about justice and governance:
“No one is above the law. Every policy our leaders pass affects the lives of everybody. Social justice, environmental justice — these are also human justice.”
Before stepping on stage for her question, Barcoma paused to offer prayers for the victims of the recent typhoon in Cebu, a gesture that touched both judges and spectators. Her authenticity and courage reminded many of the spirit of past Filipino Miss Earth queens such as Karen Ibasco, Angelia Ong, Jamie Herrell, and Karla Henry.
