What to do if a potential DDoS attack occurs

In light of a potential Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on, Wednesday, 5 November, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) shared a list of precautions in case the attempt succeeds.

DICT described a DDoS attack as a traffic jam on the internet, where hackers flood a website or application with simultaneous requests. This can slow down the application or prevent it from opening immediately.

The agency advised the public to be patient when waiting for websites to load, use official applications or status pages when accessing services online, and follow verified updates regarding the incident.

People are also discouraged from participating in illegal online activities.

DICT assured that personal accounts, data, and money will remain secure even in the event of an attack.

Filipinos are encouraged to report incidents via the official hotline at 1326 or by email at 1326@dict.gov.ph.

Under Oplan Cyberdome, which operates 24/7, DICT is coordinating with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), and other law enforcement agencies to maintain a safe digital environment for Filipinos.
