ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR — Josefina town Mayor Albert Etulle has voluntarily surrendered to authorities following a gun firing incident during the All Saints’ Day observance.
In a statement, the Municipal Government of Josefina clarified that Etulle was not arrested and was only indirectly involved in the incident.
The statement explained that a controlled warning shot was fired to prevent harm to the mayor’s family amid a perceived threat. Etulle also surrendered his licensed firearm to show full cooperation with the investigation.
His camp denied claims that he was under the influence of alcohol and urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while awaiting the results of the official probe.
Authorities are still conducting their investigation into the incident.
