KC Concepcion opens up on love, healing, reunion

After seven years away from the spotlight, actress and singer KC Concepcion returns to the public eye radiating peace, joy, and love — not only for her career but, more importantly, for her family and herself.

In a heartfelt interview with Boy Abunda on Fast Talk, KC opened up about her renewed relationship with her mother, Megastar Sharon Cuneta, after years of distance that once made headlines. Today, she says, things could not be better.

“I’m really, really happy. Masaya po ako. After a while, sobrang okay na kami ni mama and sobrang nagmamahal kaming pamilya. Iba talaga ang feeling kapag okay,” KC said with a smile that spoke volumes of reconciliation and relief. (“I’m really, really happy. After a while, Mama and I are really okay, and our family loves each other so much. It really feels different when everything is okay.”)

A Christmas Conversation That Changed Everything

KC recalled that their healing began during the holidays of 2024 — a time that turned out to be both emotional and transformative.

“Nasurprise ako, Tito Boy. Dumating si Mama (sa Amanpulo) and first time ko magkatabi si Mama after 100 million years,” she shared with laughter. (“I was surprised, Tito Boy. Mama arrived [at Amanpulo], and it was the first time I sat beside her after 100 million years.”) “Talagang nagmamahalan po kami.” (“We really love each other.”)

The two spent four to five hours talking on Christmas Day, sharing stories, laughter, and long-overdue emotions. “Para kaming mag-best friends,” KC said. (“It felt like we were best friends.”) That night, their bond, long tested by time and misunderstandings, began to flourish again.

Months later, Sharon surprised her daughter at her 40th birthday celebration — a moment KC described as deeply touching. “Akala ko may cake lang. Pagharap ko, si Mama pala ‘yung cake ko,” she recalled with a giggle. (“I thought there would just be a cake. When I faced it, it was Mama who was my cake.”) “First time ko ulit tumabi kay Mama after so many years, and doon ko naramdaman na nagmamahalan talaga kaming mag-ina.” (“It was the first time I sat beside Mama after so many years, and that’s when I felt we really love each other as mother and daughter.”)

On Love, Vulnerability, and Finding “The One”

Beyond her rekindled family ties, KC also spoke about love — the kind she is now ready to welcome into her life. After years of self-discovery and healing, she said she feels more open and emotionally mature.

“I am ready to share my life with someone. I enjoyed my life so much that gusto ko na siyang ishare sa someone na deserving, dahil alam niya kung paano ako mahalin,” she said. (“I am ready to share my life with someone. I enjoyed my life so much that I want to share it with someone deserving, someone who knows how to love me.”)

KC reflected on how past relationships taught her the importance of growth and trust. “Kapag takot na takot ka, parang ang dami mong guard. I think ganoon ako dati. Pero ngayon, mas bukas ako, mas nararamdaman ko pagiging babae ko, at mas nagiging soft ako habang inaaccept ko ‘yung pagkukulang ko.” (“When you are very scared, you build so many guards. I think that was me before. But now, I am more open, I feel my femininity more, and I become softer as I accept my shortcomings.”)

When asked about her ideal partner, KC emphasized emotional balance and maturity: “Preferably someone na nakilala ko na, maalaga, provider, and naiintindihan ako. Someone who lets me feel like a woman — and he, a true man.” (“Preferably someone I already know, caring, a provider, and who understands me. Someone who lets me feel like a woman — and he, a true man.”)

Although she did not confirm any relationship, rumors of reconciliation with ex-boyfriend Aly Borromeo continue to swirl. Still, KC chose to keep things private, saying only that she believes “the right one” will arrive in God’s perfect time.

“Kapag mayroon na pong sure, ikukwento ko po iyon. Hindi ko po matatago iyon. I think the love that I will end up with — that I will marry — is just waiting there,” she mused. (“When there is something certain, I will share it. I cannot hide it. I think the love that I will end up with — the one I will marry — is just waiting there.”)

Wisdom from Her Parents

KC shared that both her parents continue to guide her in matters of the heart. From Sharon, she learned not to overthink public opinion and to trust her instincts.

“Sabi niya sa akin, ‘Wag mo masyadong isipin ‘yung sasabihin ng mga tao.’ At kapag may doubt ka, huwag mo nang ituloy. ‘When in doubt, don’t,’ sabi niya.” (“She told me, ‘Don’t overthink what people will say. And if you have doubt, don’t proceed. When in doubt, don’t.’”)

From her father, Gabby Concepcion, came a gentler piece of advice about simplicity and sincerity in love. “Ang payo naman po ni Papa kung magpapakasal ako — maliit lang daw, intimate lang. Huwag daw gaya ng ginawa nila na sobrang laki,” she shared with a laugh. (“Papa’s advice if I get married — keep it small and intimate. Don’t make it as big as what they did.”)

The Comeback of a Woman Reborn

After years of introspection, KC Concepcion seems to be stepping into a new season — one grounded in forgiveness, gratitude, and grace. The actress who once symbolized youth and independence now embodies womanhood in full bloom: healed, hopeful, and ready for love that lasts.

“Mas natural na po ngayon,” she said softly. (“It feels more natural now.”) “Thank God. Kaya ko na pong sabihin sa kanya [kay Mama], ‘I need a girl talk. Call me.’” (“Thank God. I can now tell her [Mama], ‘I need a girl talk. Call me.’”)

Indeed, KC Concepcion’s story today is not about fame or comeback projects — it’s about coming home, to her roots, to her family, and to the truest version of herself.
