The Cebu provincial government has allocated at least P913 million for recovery and rehabilitation efforts in areas of northern Cebu hit by a recent earthquake.

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro said P542 million will come from unused disaster trust funds from 2020 to 2024, while P371 million will be taken from this year’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund.

Repairs on roads and bridges will be prioritized to improve access and trade, particularly in the towns of Tabogon and Borbon.

The recovery program, called “Kumbati Cebu,” will allocate P238 million for road and bridge repairs, P20 million for agricultural recovery and P15 million for livestock, poultry and farm housing rehabilitation.

The Provincial Rehabilitation and Recovery Council will lead the program, with the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development serving as secretariat.
