A large fruit bat caused the an unscheduled power interruption at Sitio Coto of this town on 31 July.

According to Zambales I Electric Cooperative Inc., the fruit bat caused the electricity shortage at the said barangay, prompting them to change the transformer and construct a new post to change the old one.

Fruit bats, including the Philippine flying fox, are found in the forests of Masinloc, Zambales. These bats are important for the ecosystem, particularly in pollination and seed dispersal.

The forests of Masinloc, like other Philippine forests, are home to various bat species, including fruit bats and the giant Golden-Crowned Flying Fox.

The Philippine flying fox is considered endangered, highlighting the importance of conservation efforts to protect their habitat and ensure their survival.
