A man reportedly intoxicated and armed with an improvised firearm was shot and injured by a police officer during a tense encounter in Barangay Sta. Cruz, authorities said.

The suspect was identified as alias Arle, a resident of Grava Falls, Carolina Village, Sitio Leyva 2, Barangay Sta. Cruz.

Reports said that around 10:15 a.m., public safety officers from Barangay Sta. Cruz, along with Patrolmen Evan Borela and John Morris Morante, responded to a report of an alleged alarm and scandal at the location.=
