Two-time Grammy Award-winning flugelhorn player Chuck Mangione, best known for his 1977 hit "Feels So Good," has died at the age of 84.
The artist passed away in his sleep at his home on July 22, his spokesperson confirmed through People magazine.
Throughout his career, Mangione received 14 Grammy nominations and recorded more than 30 albums. He also portrayed a fictional version of himself in the 1990s animated sitcom King of the Hill.
Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Mangione’s love for music began in childhood, inspired by the jazz records his father often played. In 2023, he was inducted into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame.
Following the news of his passing, Mangione’s family released a statement to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle on July 24, highlighting his legacy in the music industry.
“Chuck’s love affair with music has been characterized by his boundless energy, unabashed enthusiasm, and pure joy that radiated from the stage,” his family said.
