The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has approved the designation of former party-list lawmaker Yedda Marie K. Romualdez as the third nominee of the Tingog Sinirangan (TINGOG) Party-list, clearing the way for her return to the House of Representatives.

In a resolution released Friday, the poll body confirmed that Romualdez, who was sixth on TINGOG’s list of nominees and who is married to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, is next in line following the resignation of the group’s third, fourth, and fifth nominees.

TINGOG secured three seats in the May 2025 midterm elections with over 1.8 million votes, entitling it to send three representatives to the 20th Congress. However, the original third nominee, Marie Josephine Calatrava, along with Alexis Yu and Paul Muncada, withdrew their nominations, opening the spot for Romualdez.

The Comelec en banc adopted the recommendation of its Law Department and certified Romualdez as the next qualified nominee based on the party-list’s submitted list.

Once officially proclaimed, Romualdez will join her son, Rep. Andrew Romualdez, and Rep. Jude Acidre in representing Tingog in Congress. Comelec Chairperson George Garcia has already notified the House of Representatives of her pending proclamation.

Romualdez previously served as Tingog's representative from 2019 to 2025 and was earlier elected as Leyte’s 1st District congresswoman from 2016 to 2019.
