Authorities arrested a 22-year-old woman and seized over P2 million worth of marijuana during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Nangka early Tuesday morning.
The suspect, identified only by the alias Luna, was tagged as a newly identified high-value individual by the police.
The anti-drug operation was conducted around 3:45 AM by operatives of the Marikina City Police Station's Drug Enforcement Unit, following a tip from a confidential informant on the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities.
According to police records, Luna had previously been arrested along with four others for a similar offense in August 2018 in Golden Valley Subdivision, Barangay Malanday, also in Marikina City.
Seized from the suspect were 18,100 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops, with a standard drug price of P2,172,000, as well as P2,000 in marked buy-bust money.
The suspect was taken to the Marikina City Police Station for documentation and later underwent a medical examination at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.
She is now detained at the station’s custodial facility and will be charged with violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
