The body of a 26-year-old man with a reported mental disorder was discovered floating along a river in Taytay, Rizal, on Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities identified the victim as Charles Abucay Subudo, a resident of Sitio Tapayan, Lupang Arenda, Barangay Santa Ana, Taytay.
According to the police, Subudo’s body was found around 4:45 p.m. near the riverbank along C6 Road in Barangay Santa Ana.
Initial investigation revealed that prior to the incident, the victim was being pursued by his family who were trying to bring him back home. Subudo reportedly jumped into Laguna Lake and disappeared.
The following day, a passerby spotted a body floating on the river and alerted the authorities. Subudo’s family later confirmed the identity of the victim.
An ocular inspection of the cadaver showed no signs of foul play, investigators said.
