A 48-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm during a police operation in San Mateo, Rizal early Thursday morning.
Police served a search warrant in Barangay Banaba, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect, identified only by the alias “Bumbay,” a local driver and resident of the barangay.
Authorities confiscated a sling bag containing a .45 caliber pistol, ammunition, a magazine, and a holster.
The suspect is now detained at the San Mateo Municipal Police Station custodial facility and faces charges for violating Republic Act 10591, which penalizes the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
