A man wanted for murder was arrested in Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City, where authorities also recovered a .45-caliber pistol loaded with 16 rounds, a 9-inch butterfly knife, and two mobile phones from his possession.
According to the Northern Police District (NPD), the suspect — identified only as "Jun" — had an outstanding arrest warrant issued in April 2025 by Judge Rose Sharon Santiago Cordero-Abila of RTC Branch 129.
Police Staff Sergeant Jonel Pangindian of the NPD-District Special Operations Unit said the suspect did not resist when searched. Asked why he was carrying firearms, the suspect simply replied that he had a “next subject” in Makati City but declined to elaborate.
The recovered firearm has been submitted for ballistics testing to determine if it was used in any previous crimes. No test results have been released as of this writing.
Authorities also seized two mobile phones, one of which reportedly contained a text message instructing the suspect to return the firearm. The sender's number was unsaved and unidentified.
“We saw a text message on the phone instructing him to return the firearm, but the sender’s number wasn’t saved and appeared without a name,” the policeman said.
Police records show that Jun was previously arrested in April 2016 when a gun and grenade were seized from him.
When questioned about his motive, the 33-year-old suspect declined to answer, stating only:
“I will just speak before the court,” Jun’s brief reply.
In addition to the existing murder charge, he now faces new charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under Republic Act No. 10591, in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
