Phl welcomes Israel-Iran truce

The Philippines on Wednesday welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, following nearly two weeks of an intense and deadly conflict.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) expressed optimism the truce will lead to a more lasting peace in the Middle East.
“The Philippines welcomes the United States announcement of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, hopeful that it will be a crucial step toward achieving lasting peace in the region,” the DFA said.
The Philippines reiterated its support for the diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully.
“We urge all parties concerned to continue engaging in dialogue and negotiations toward a permanent solution to this issue,” the DFA added.
On Monday (US time), President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, ending what he described as “12 days of war.”
Trump made the announcement after Iran launched a missile attack on a US airbase in Qatar — which the US President downplayed.
