Former vice president Mike Pence on Sunday praised President Donald Trump for ordering the deployment of American forces to strike nuclear sites in Iran.
Pence highlighted Trump’s decisiveness in preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and issued a warning against any retaliatory moves.
"Iran could never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon. Thanks to the resolve of our Commander in Chief and the courage and professionalism of our Armed Forces, America, Israel, and the Free World are safer as a result," Pence stated.
"Iran should now stand down and abandon any thought of retaliation against Americans, or be prepared to face the consequences," he added.
Meanwhile, Iran’s National Nuclear Safety System Center announced that despite a "criminal American attack" targeting nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Fordow and Natanz, "no signs of radiation contamination have been recorded."
"It is hereby informed that, considering the measures taken and the previous planning, as well as the information recorded by the radioactive material detection systems, no signs of contamination have been recorded," the statement said.
The agency also assured the public of safety in surrounding areas, saying “there is no danger to the residents living around the aforementioned sites.”
