Vice President Sara Duterte on Friday called on Filipinos to pray for the safety of fellow citizens caught in the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
“The Office of the Vice President is deeply concerned about the welfare of Filipinos working and living in the Middle East as hostilities continue to escalate,” Duterte said in a statement.
“As a nation, we should come together in prayer for the safety of our kababayans, even as we hope for the expeditious and peaceful end to the conflict,” she added.
Duterte also warned the public against falling for fake news, disinformation, and misinformation.
“Make sure that the information you receive comes from trusted media organizations,” she said.
“Listen to the advice of authorities regarding evacuation and other critical steps for your safety,” the Vice President added.
Despite rising tensions, Duterte urged Filipinos in Israel and Iran to remain calm and strong, drawing strength from their faith and hope for peace.
“To all the governments involved in the conflict, we hope that you will always uphold the norms that safeguard humanity during these challenging times,” she said.
