Proud papa moment: Ogie Diaz Beams as daughter Godhie begins her journey to becoming a doctor

In a touching tribute to fatherhood, talent manager and content creator Ogie Diaz took to social media to proudly share a milestone in his daughter Godhie’s journey — her official entry into clinical internship as she pursues a career in medicine.

On 31 May, Diaz posted a series of photos on Facebook featuring 21-year-old Godhie in her white coat, marking the beginning of her hospital internship. The occasion was the 11th Medical Technology White Coat and Pinning Ceremony, a symbolic rite of passage for future medical professionals. For Diaz, it was more than just an academic event — it was the realization of a dream he had quietly nurtured for his daughter since she was a child.

“Konting flex lang ‘to. Pasensiya na. Proud dad lang ang Mama Ogs n’yo, (Just a little adjustment. Forgive me. Proud Dada moment),” he wrote, clearly unable to contain the pride swelling in his chest.

He fondly recalled how, at the tender age of three, Godhie could already memorize her mother’s favorite Madonna songs — choreography and all — jumping from one couch to another like a star on a living room stage. Her sharp memory and focus, even then, convinced him she was destined for greatness — perhaps as a lawyer, or even a doctor.

Now in her early twenties, Godhie is determined to become an OB-GYN, a dream inspired by her godmother, Dr. Cecille I. Perez, the very first person to welcome her into the world. Her motivation is personal, powerful, and steeped in gratitude. “And as proud parents, kasama kami ng mama niya sa kanyang journey para tuparin ang kanyang pangarap na maging doctor ( I was with her mom on her journey to becoming a doctor),” Diaz shared.

In a particularly emotional moment, Diaz recounted watching Godhie take the “Oath of Loyalty to the Faculty and to the Profession” and give a speech as the incoming president of the Organization of MT Interns. For any parent, witnessing such growth is both humbling and overwhelming — and Diaz didn’t hold back his tears.

Adding to this heartwarming narrative is the presence of Godhie’s boyfriend, a fellow intern with the same ambition of entering the medical field. “Bagay sila (They are compatible),” Diaz said with fatherly affection. “Sana nga ay sila na rin ang magkatuluyan sa ending pagkatapos nilang patunayan sa mundo na kaya na nila habang nakamasid lang kaming mga parents (It is my dream that they end up together at the end of their journeys).”

But even as he celebrates, Diaz remains a devoted and caring father, reminding his daughter to prioritize her well-being amid the academic pressures. “Anak, easy ka lang, ha? No pressure from us. Bawi-bawi ka rin sa pahinga… Tandaan mo, ang pangarap mo ay maging doktor, hindi maging pasyente (Make sure you rest well. Remember, your dream is to become a doctor, not a patient).”
